Fixed: video buffering stall in Chrome on the library players

We fixed a playback bug affecting Google Chrome users in the Public Library and Handy Library.

What was happening

When you maximised the browser window or entered fullscreen while a video was playing, Chrome's streaming engine would try to switch to a higher quality mid-resize. That switch could cancel the downloads already in progress and permanently stall buffering, so the video played up to the point it had buffered and then stopped with an endless spinner. Safari was unaffected.

What we changed

The player now holds its current quality steady while the window is being resized or a fullscreen transition is in progress, then resumes automatic quality switching once the size has settled. Buffering continues smoothly through maximise, restore and fullscreen.

No action is needed on your part. If you still see a stall, do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R or Cmd+Shift+R) to pick up the latest player and let us know.
